The first of Andy Rouse built cars built to the BTCC's new 2-litre regulations.
The car first appeared in 1990 driven by Ray Bellm but after a string of problems Bellm quit the team and the car was taken over by Chris Hodgetts for a couple of rounds at the end of the season.
Jim Wheals purchased the car at the end of the season in a part-exchange deal for his Road Saloons winning Rover SD1. Wheals had intended to race in the 1991 BTCC but ultimately only managed a couple of Thundersaloons races with the car.
Wheals did eventually appear in the 1993 BTCC at Snetterton but his debut soon came to an end with a blown engine. Wheals advertised for a sponsor to help pay for the damaged engine but eventually ended up trading the car in another part-exchange deal, this time for Bob Berridge's Production series Porsche 911. Berridge would campaign the car for most of the remainder of the season with little success.
Fitted with an RS Cosworth engine and run in the Formula Saloons series in the early 2000's by Steve Papworth
